Users review: So I went to see this with not much expectation at all, the one trailer I had seen didnt really grab me but I decided to see it anyway and was pleasantly surprised. Mr. Peabody is this extremely intelligent dog who can talk and his adopted son Sherman is a 7-year-old boy who is a sponge for facts but quite slow practically. They go on adventures through time to learn about history. The movie sets that up in the first 15 minutes, which by the way it was done it looked like the movie was going to be some kids documentary about history but when it actually got into the story it was really fun. The comedy made me laugh, the visuals are stunning, I wish I couldve seen it in 3D, the story is quite unique but also had similar elements of other movies, I got a Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure vibe and you get some pretty generic characters that youve seen in quite a lot of animated movies but the plot wast boring; I was interested to the end. The voice acting is pretty average but the way Mr. Peabody says things do add a certain something to the film. 8 out of 10.

Users review: Finally! After that dreadful Transformers franchise, the Michael Bay who brought us those Bad Boys movies is back! PAIN & GAIN is pumped-up and hugely entertaining. Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, and Anthony Mackie bring the old saying, in way over your head, to whole new level of hilarious. Their performances are like The Three Stooges with biceps. A crime comedy doesnt get better than this..PAIN & GAIN is your textbook Michael Bay, there are beautiful girls, fast cars, that 360-degree spinning shot where the camera circles the actors, plus its back in Miami too, the land of all kinds of colors and sunshine! Yup! PAIN & GAIN looks, feels, breaths, and benches like a Michael Bay movie, alright! Minus the giant robots, and thats a good thing in this case. I have to give props to the true story that became the basis for this movie, just the idea of three knucklehead bodybuilders chasing American dream and the mishaps that happen along the way because of their stupidity, its practically a formula for a laugh riot, it practically begged to be made into a movie. Plus its scripted by the screen writing team who brought us Captain America: The First Avenger, the humor that banks on the cluelessness of the three leads just keeps on coming and hitting the mark. What a great cast, including the great Tony Shalhoub and the rising star/funnywoman, Rebel Wilson who steals every scene shes in. That big girl is going to go places.Mark Wahlberg leads the pack, but this aint The Hangover, because all the three lead characters in PAIN & GAIN are idiots, thats the attraction, they think they have it all figured out, but they never think things through, so when things go haywire, theyre forced to improvise and when they do improvise, people get hurt and even after that, they still mess up in trying to cover their tracks, its the idea of stupid people trying to get a shortcut to fortune, some people cant handle such fortune, they mismanage it and theyre left hungry again. The film probably would make the late great Tony Scott proud too, because it moves like an A-D-D person, one scene moves to the next very quickly, which also speaks about how rash the three leads are in making their moves. Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, and Anthony Mackie have impressive comedic timing, you should see them panicking or cornered, their performances get even more intense. I hit the gym but I dont even come close to what Wahlberg, Mackie, and Johnson do regularly, perhaps. Their biceps have biceps, thats how ridiculously massive they look on the big screen, their belief in fitness is going to make you feel quite insignificant. PAIN & GAIN may have some commentary about American Dream, on whether or not those who do achieve it actually earned it, but in the end, its just a laugh out loud cautionary tale told through the style of Michael Bay.-- www.ramascreen.com --

Users review: Now i watched the original film and i liked it,but it was a low budget film..and i love low budget films.This was a great bigger film of a small film,now i read how someone didnt like the CGI blood and didnt care about the characters..are FFFFFnnn kidding me!Why cant people enjoy films anymore?Because they all think their critics.Well i loved this one made my night.If you like horror comedy this one the one to watch.Just the opening sequence got me into it now there is all the clichés of high school and jocks and cheerleaders but thats what we know,am i right.Good vs evil teenage style.In closing i put this up as at least a seven,hell crack a beer and have some fun.

Users review: Spike Lees reimagining of the Park Chan-Wook cult classic Oldboy is a queer creature despite the notable absence of the originals iconic octopus-slurping scene. Those unfamiliar with Parks original, which itself was based on a late 1990s Japanese manga, will likely find it bizarre and even off-putting; and yet those who have seen and loved Parks 2004 Cannes Gran Prix winner are likely to dismiss this as mild and underwhelming compared to the original. But most of all, there is something distinctly Asian in the tales themes of revenge and solitude that feel an odd and therefore unsatisfying fit for an Americanised reinterpretation.Yes, to call Lees version a remake will be – if you take the filmmakers words for it – akin to blasphemy. According to Lee, he and his writer Mark Protosevich had not sought to remake Parks movie; rather, they have returned to the manga by Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi to shape a similar yet somewhat different story that keeps the essential baroque details intact. And so the setup is the same – a cold- blooded businessman is drugged and held captive in a windowless hotel room for 20 years, before being let out in a suitcase in the middle of a field.The ever dependable character actor Josh Brolin plays the titular character named Joe Doucett, which we are introduced to as a boozy advertising executive who blows a make-or-break deal by propositioning his clients wife at the very meeting. His sentence for the next two decades while in captivity includes watching a ripped off version of Americas Most Wanted where he is held as the prime suspect for his ex-wifes murder, in between being fed the daily news as well as Chinese dumplings. The question upon his release is not who, but why – as District 9s Sharlto Copley plainly puts to him after revealing himself very early into the movie as Joes captor – which forms the core of the mystery behind his unusual circumstance.Joe is aided in his subsequent quest for punishment and redemption by a bartender friend (The Sopranos Michael Imperioli) as well as a kind- hearted social worker (Elizabeth Olsen). He has a timeline too – Copley threatens to kill his daughter in the next 48 hours if he fails to figure out his identity as well as the reason for his imprisonment. Neither should be unfamiliar to those who have seen Parks version; indeed, despite what Lee and Protosevich claim, they have only sought to vary the details from their predecessor.So instead of an exercise in dentistry when Joe confronts the caretaker of his prison (Samuel L. Jackson), we are treated to an equally grotesque sequence where he slices bits of skin from off the mans throat. Instead of gobbling an octopus live and whole, Joe merely stares hard at the animal in a restaurant aquarium. And perhaps most significantly, Joe gets to restage the original films iconic extended sequence where his character takes on an entire army of thugs with no more than a claw hammer and pure rage - a three and a half minute scene rehearsed for six weeks which to Lees credit, loses none of its predecessors visceral thrills. Notwithstanding the distinct sense of familiarity with the proceedings, there is just something lost in translation. Parks original was the second and perhaps most famous instalment of his Vengeance Trilogy whose exploration of redemption and salvation was firmly set against a unique cultural context; unfortunately, the motivations for Joes imprisonment lack that dramatic heft when yanked out of that context, especially since the inherent familial concepts make much more sense within an Asian setting. Lee also does himself little favour by undermining an otherwise grim and thoughtful story with cartoonish elements, most notably Jacksons garish performance (complete with blonde ponytail we may add) as Joes chief jailer turned tormentor.Thankfully, Brolin anchors the titular role with his compelling presence, built on a single-minded embrace of his characters vengeance. Users review: First of all, let me say that the characters were great. Diaz and Segel are very talented, funny people in comic roles. The movie overall had a very cute, however stupid, story line, but the portrayal of that story line goes down hill in a hurry thanks to the direction of the film maker. Ever since Seth Grogan came on the scene, whos mouth spews filth from every direction, Hollywood has been pushing the limits with each new comedy film. Each director trying to outdo the other in terms of gross humor. There are no secrets left in sex. None. Everything is brought out on the screen and in disgusting dialog that leave little if any to ones imagination. Call me old fashion. Call me an old fart. I just dont see the humor in Coc..s..ker and motherf...er over and over throughout the movie. What is the purpose? To see how much they can get away with and still make a boatload of $$$? To push the sensor meter to the limit and get a positive rise out of the audience? To me, this is nothing more than a serious deterioration of what little is left of societys morals. Now, its all about whatever sells.Seinfeld was hilarious. Will & Grace was hilarious. Comedy like the pink panther series was hilarious. Yet not a word of BS was spoken and folks just laughed their collective asses off. Go figure! One of the funniest comedic films of late was, Hall Pass. The charters were cast perfectly and it was a fun film to watch. Yet it did not resemble Sex Tape in any way, shape or form in language content or visual calamity. Ill be damned if I ever waste another $16. on trash like Sex Tape again. Cameron Diaz I love you, but you can do much better than this.
